Believing the Word of God to be the only infallible rule of faith and practice, and the Reformed system of doctrine as expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith to be the most pure expression of its truths, the Presbytery of North Florida, in conjunction with the Elders of Westminster Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Jacksonville are pleased to announce the organization of a Mission church in Hilliard. Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church will commence worship services on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at The Meeting Place in Hilliard. The Meeting Place is located off of US 1, just north of Hilliard, adjacent to R & R Wings in the Franklin Plaza.
A Sunday school class will meet at 9:30 a.m., where the first topic of discussion will be a study series entitled “Fundamentals of the Faith.” This class is an introductory primer to the foundational truths of Christianity in general, and Presbyterianism in particular. Refreshments will be served before Sunday school. Following the Fundamentals class, worship will promptly begin at 10:45 a.m. with a fellowship lunch of covered dishes afterward. All are welcomed and invited to stay and eat!
The hope for this congregation is that we will grow into a group of believers who place supreme value on the Word of God, and express that value in the attention to and high esteem for precise and orthodox theology. We deeply desire to be a church which would be characterized by faithfulness to the Scriptures, fidelity to the Reformed faith, and obedience to the Great Commission. We are committed to the expository preaching of the Bible. This simply means that we believe that the best way to understand the detailed and difficult sections of the Bible, along with the composite whole overarching story of the Bible, is to preach systematically, week by week, verse by verse, passage by passage, book by book through the Scriptures, and discover Jesus Christ and Him crucified as its sum and substance. We are committed to embracing the whole council of God, to know and to worship the God Who is, as He has revealed Himself in the Scripture, and to avoid fashioning a more convenient god after our own image.
To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory; to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to whoever will come–this church opens wide her doors and offers her welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
